Know the person's name or username. Usernames are marked by the '@' symbol. Real names are the real name of the person. If the person you are trying to find has a common name, it will be more efficient to know their username. Usernames are unique to each user while real names are not.

For mobile users, you need to tap the first icon next to the search bar. It looks like two swords. In Search Filters, left-click Near You under the Location section. The social media giant may ask you for your location data.

On the search results page, tap on the Settings icon in the top right corner, and select Search settings. Under Location, tap on "near you" to see tweets that are close to your current location, or tap on Anywhere to see tweets from anywhere in the world.
